NEW SONG! - WHO I AM

Who I Am (by Geoff Mills)

A productive weekend indeed! Wrote this one on Friday, had the instruments done by Saturday morning,  and sang all the vocals by yesterday late night. Today was mix-down day, and with a bit of sweat on brow it's now ready for ears. Cheers!

- see the player to the right for the song or you can listen to a 320kbs version (up later today,) on my site at www.geoffmills.ca in the music section.

The SING Campaign with Annie Lennox

In support of the efforts of The SING Campaign I am posting this today in the hopes that you will also spread the word. A very worthy effort and cause that is a part of our legacy.

About SING (from http://www.annielennoxsing.com/)
After personally witnessing Nelson Mandela describe the African HIV pandemic as a genocide, with women and children becoming the frontline victims, Annie Lennox set out to try and do something about it.
That is how the SING campaign started. To raise funds and awareness to bring about support and change.
The money raised by SING helps prevent the spread of HIV in South Africa, and also supports those currently living with HIV.

The awareness it raises is just as valuable - education is a powerful tool.

Mills

My grandfather, or Papa as I called him, was and still is in many ways one of the greatest influences both musically and as a human being to me in terms of my drives, zest for life and ambitions. His name was Bruce Mills, and it is out of respect, honor and love that I took the last name of Mills for my music career in memory of him. As each song marks a moment in time, so do the songs I listen to now and then that I recall having heard him play, or heard him listen to those oh so wonderful days ago when he was still here. Although he has been gone for a number of years now his spirit is still felt and his voice still echos in my mind when I write my songs that are those from and of the heart.

Thank you Papa, for everything.

All the way HOME

Home
by Geoff Mills
(alternate title: Legacy)
song available via the player

--

Say, tell me have you heard
It's time for us to make a change
And say, tell me what's the word
For things can not remain the same

And it's time to give it back
This history's our fact
Of a future for you and I come undone
And there's no one left to blame
This legacy holds all our shame
And all I want to do is see home

So tell them you're sorry, to the little ones
For the ignorance and the father's pride, is passed to the son
And tell them you're sorry, oh little one
For it's to the mother's eyes that the daughter will cry, "What have you done?"

Say, tell me have we learned
From all the mistakes that we've made
And say, tell me have we turned
A page on yesterday

Well it's time to give it back
This history's a fact
Of a future for you and I come undone
And there's no one left to blame
This legacy holds all our shame
When all we want to do is see home

And tell them we're sorry, dear little one
For it's foolish pride that's passed on as wise, father to son
And tell them we're sorry; oh what have we done?
For it's in the daughter's cries that you see all these lies, everyone

I used to call this home
What have we done?
I used to call this home
Take me home....
